ABOUT
A joint effort between Turpin High School and Anderson High School Bands. This district wide marching arts program consists of the marching band, winter percussion and winter guard and represent our school district as a whole. This collaborative approach allows our band students to continue playing music together in some after school marching programs throughout high school, as they did in the younger grade band programs. This approach also brings resources from all of our school band staffs and parents together to provide the best experience possible.
The Forest Hills school district is unique in many ways. One of those ways is the fact that we are the only district in Ohio to have 1 middle school and 2 high schools. Our students begin their band experience together in 5th grade at the Beginning Band Fair. They then perform several concerts together with their friends from the other elementary bands. This unique setup continues the following years and brings all of our band students, parents and teachers together into one middle school band program. After performing together and making great friendships through middle school, the students then split into two high school programs. We have a unique opportunity to keep those student, teacher, parent relationships and resources together throughout high school in the Marching Arts with this model.
The high school marching band competes in several circuits. The Ohio Music Educators Association, the Mid-States band Association and National level through Bands of America. The winter percussion and guard compete in the Tristate, Mid East and WGI circuits.
