This is a very big week for the marching band. In addition to there being many items the group needs to finalize for the actual performance, we will be putting the uniforms on for the first time, learning how we will get all equipment & props onto the field during performances, how we load the trailers and so much more. Every second of rehearsal time will be spent pulling months of preparation together to have the group ready for the weekend activities.
This Week's Schedule
Monday: Colorguard Practice Tuesday: Winds & Percussion Practice Wednesday: Dress Rehearsal Night Thursday: Full Group Practice Friday: Football Game for everyone Saturday: First Competition
*Thursday has an altered high school schedule due to testing. This will bring abnormal schedules, rides and other routines for the students. Please plan accordingly to ensure all students are able to attend our final practice of the week.
There are several items that the students will need to bring with them to performance days, as well as ensuring they prepare for our uniform requirements. The main items are listed below:
Band Members: Thin, athletic shorts or legging under the uniform pants and their show shirt to be worn under their uniform top for Saturdays. Any black t-shirt can be worn on Friday nights, so they can keep their show shirt clean for Saturdays. They will also need tall black socks and their marching shoes. We often have trouble getting all of the students to meet the tall black sock requirement, so please help us with this item. We use tall socks, due to short socks allowing the leg to be seen during marching.
Band Member Hair: If a member has longer hair, they will need to have it in one of the 3 options below to meet the uniform look of our group.
High Ponytail
Bun
Single Braid
As we progress through this week, the band directors and boosters are working to finalize our weekend volunteers and communicating plans. Please view the official lists (http://www.fhbands.org/volunteer.html) and ensure you are on the list if planning to attend. Thanks!
