Next week is our big event! In order to have a successful event, we need as many parent volunteers as possible. You can view the volunteer signup opportunities via the link below. We hope to have all positions filled by the end of this week. Be sure to see the 5 different tabs at top to change volunteer types.
We have received questions regarding student absences, grading and make-up work. We treat any absence like a missing assignment. Even if an absence occurs for an excused reason, there is learning and information that has been missed that needs to be made up. For example, if a student misses a practice where new movement or music was learned, we ask that the student learns that information from a student leader or teacher outside of normal practice time, so the full group does not need to stop moving forward. Many have simply met with their student leader a half hour prior to the next rehearsal beginning. With so many students being in and out of activities this year due to quarantines and other reasons, it has been especially challenging to keep the group moving forward with our usual rate of progress.
Thank You!
The majority of our students & parents are new to marching band this year. It has been a season of restarting the program. In a normal season, we only have freshman students learning the new routines. This season, we have about 65% of the group learning all of the behind the scenes logistics and how to perform a show on the field for the first time. We know that this also includes many parents navigating their first marching band season. We are now headed into the final weeks of the season. Thank you for all of your help!
From the Boosters
Fall Fundraiser
We’re over $3,000 towards our $10,000+ sales goal! If we reach our sales goal, we earn 40% of the total. Not all band and guard members have yet completed the online registration, which offers an easy avenue for friends and family to support this important fundraiser. Not sure if your student is registered? Visit the link below and click Register.
Thank you for the speedy Expo sign-ups by students, parents, grandparents & friends! If you are an adult that signed up for a 3 - 5:30 spot, please consider doubling down from 5:30-8:30 as we need all hands on deck. You will be able to see Forest Hills Band perform at 8:45!
As we feed the band this Saturday at the Shoe, we could use some additional donations of fruits and desserts below. The Boosters are also asking for donations to cover the cost of pizza for dinner (as OSU concessions are cash-free and most students will not be carrying credit cards). Please use this link now to help us feed the band. (Feel free to combine pizza & ad to one payment. See below regarding ad purchase.)
Celebrating a Senior? Want to recognize your Section Leader? Promoting a business or initiative? This year’s printed Band Expo Program offers Patron ads, Senior Recognition, & Shout-Outs for as low as $10! Check it out before next Sunday.
Parents, start planning your participation for our October 27th, 8:30 p.m. Trunk or Treat held in the Turpin parking lot close to the stadium. This year Nagel band students will be invited to this (costumed) Wednesday evening practice, so plan enough treats for 300 total
