We will have a full group student meeting from 8:30-9:00 to discuss band camp logistics
Band Camp Begins Next Week!
Band camp is an incredibly important aspect of our Fall season. While some band programs hold a month or more of band camp, we fit all of our teaching into 2 weeks. One set of 5 ½ days and another set of full days. We truly build about a minute more of the performance show each day, so a day missed is a minute's worth of music, marching formations or spinning behind for that student.
Parents often ask the teachers how they can most help during camp weeks. The main items would be:
Ensure your child is dropped off by 8:45, to be ready on the field by 9:00. We tend to have the same students who arrive late every day, while others are all there and ready on time. We want them to learn that life lesson of “to be on time, is to be early”.
They need sleep and hydration each night. The ones who choose to stay up all night playing video games or texting may be dragging at camp.
Support: Some of them have been hanging out inside the air conditioning all summer without much physical activity. It may be a surprise to suddenly get going again. Our percussion and colorguard students have been in all summer, but our wind members will just be getting going.
